Vacuum Heat Treating
GOVERNING SPECIFICATION(S): MIL-H-6875, AMS2759
VACUUM FURNACE
Our Abar Ipsen H4848 furnace is a two bar quench, with high vacuum capabilities that reach the .1micron range. The round internal heating zone allows us to process large or odd shaped parts. During the quench and partial pressure cycles Nitrogen or Argon gas is used as the protective atmosphere. The furnace is rated 2000ºF±15ºF with a max temperature of 2250ºF, and can support about 2,000 lbs.
VACUUM HEAT TREATING
Heat treating in a vacuum atmosphere has many advantages. It will produce bright clean parts free from scale and carburization with minimal distortion. This is good when finished parts need heat treating. We can perform the following treatments in vacuum; Homogenizing, Solution Annealing, Full Annealing, Normalizing, and Hardening. It is ideal for annealing and hardening stainless steels, processing high speed tooling, regular tool steel, sheet metal, and super alloys. This unit allows us to perform many types of heat treating processes; the ones mentioned above are just a few.
